We Replace Window & Door Trim in St. Albert

If you have wood or vinyl outside trim around your windows and doors, it can start to wear, distort and decay over time. Trim in bad shape does not only look unsightly, it can also enable water to get beneath the surface and create further harm. While the elements will inevitably take their toll, you can make repairs and replace trim so the outside of your house looks more attractive. Contact Handyman Connection for trim repair and replacement in St. Albert, AB. Our team of professional contractors can replace interior or exterior trim on windows, doors or anywhere in your home.

When Should I Replace My Trim?

As you walk around your home, inspect for any cracks, holes, broken, loose or rotting wood. Checking for this helps establish whether simple repairs can be made, if you need to replace separate sections or must replace all the exterior trim around the home’s doors and windows. If wood isn’t decaying, excessively distorted or seriously damaged, a qualified contractor can make a few quick repairs to return trim to perfect condition.

Trim Options

  • Wood: Wood is the most common material for exterior trim. It’s available in either whole boards or finger-jointed sections. Finger-jointed wood trim is just shorter wood pieces that fasten together. Wood trim is easy to install and takes paint well.
  • Plastic: Plastic trim comes in two forms, polyurethane and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Polyutherane is slightly pricier, but slightly denser and ready to paint after sanding.
  • Fiber-cement: This is a combination of cement, sand and wood-fiber support. It’s resilient, fire retardant and immune to water and bugs. Fiber-cement trim is typically moisture repellent, which means paint will last for years to come.
  • Laminated veneer lumber: Layers of wood veneer in a parallel granule and two veneer cross bands are covered by an average density overlay to create this substance.
  • Hardboard: This trim is engineered from hardwood chips that are heated with steam and water and then pushed into board stock. During this process, lignin found in wood will become present again and serve as paste to keep the board together. This makes the hardboard more immune to deterioration than wood.
