A lot of the handyman jobs are a one man project, but in my project an assistant would have been able to give a hand with the removal and installation (setting the tank) of the unit. The availability of working space was the biggest challenge. Then having to assist in lifting and maneuvering the old and new units in place. The biggest obstacle was the entry opening of 18 inches for a unit that required 22 inches. After removal of access door, door trim and jambs it gave clearance of 22 inches. Then having to lift the unit up to get it into the spill pan was another issue, but with a little engineering we got it in place. For a normal installation, this would have been an hour and a half. But this wasn't normal due to the design of the location where the water heater was located it took nearly four hours. Now as the home owner I have to replace the entry doorway that was used to get the water heater in place at his expense and not covered by the home warranty. Overall the objective was to remove and replace the water heater with a new one. Thank you for your services and will probably need them again in the future.
